This Is What You Don't Know About Prostate Cancer The human body has more than 15 trillion cells with diverse functions and activities. Some of them destroyed while others repaired on daily basis. Cells develop and divide depending on the need of the body. When these cells divide without, it forms tissues leading to formation of either benign (not cancer) or malignant (cancer). It is the malignant growth or cancer that invades nearby tissues and spread to the entire body. Depending on the origin, most of the cancers get the name from the parts it first arise from; like breast, prostate, stomach, lung, liver e.t.c. These malignant growths are contributed by both inheritance and lifestyle. The Prostate gland The prostate gland creates fluid which protects and provides nourishment to the semen thus make it more fluid. Being the size of walnut, the gland surrounds the urethra; which forms the tube that allows urine out of the bladder. The prostate requires male-hormone, testosterone to function fully. The prostate gland, found only in men, is located below the urinary bladder and in front of the rectum. Rapid growth of the gland takes place during puberty and presence of male hormones speed the development process. Prostate Cancer Commonly found in men, the cancer is a killer that silently destroys and affects all male species having no boundary between rich and poor. Prostate cancer spread quickly but it grows slowly, this means that a man can die having the cancer but may not affect their lifetime. This cancer affects all walks of men but older-aged men suffer more compared to youths and the best way is to go for diagnosis just to be sure you are save; if found with prostate cancer, in the early stage it can be treated. Consequently, lack of proper medication and complications aftermath of treatment like possible cause of impotence after surgery make the situation worse by far and wide. Ignorance by the public of the prostate cancer contributed to death of many due to lack of understanding the cause of the death even by the larger society. Treatment of the deadly cancer include: surgery, hormonal therapy, radiation, Chemotherapy among other methods depending on the magnitude of the cancer level. Unlike some other types of cancers, prostate cancer doesn’t have early symptoms but in later stage treating the growth is almost impossible. A point to note is that most of the victims of the prostate die of other causes like heart attack when it reaches advanced stage. It is the early stage of the cancer that can be treated, providing chance of survival to the victims. Some of the symptoms of prostate cancer Some of the early warning signs of the cancer include the following: Frequent urination mostly at nights Weak urine flow Pain or burning sensation during urination Urine with blood stains or semen Pain during ejaculation Screening helps to detect the cancer in its early stage of development and easily be cured. For the prostate cancer, two methods can be used to test its presence. The first method is finding prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in the man’s blood while the other way is digital rectum exam (RDE). PSA is commonly found in semen but small amount is also available in the blood. In the second method, a doctor with lubricated glove will insert finger in the rectum to feel any presence of the cancer growth. The symptoms may be true for the cancer or could be due to other health-0related complication; the best way to consult professional doctor to understand what the detection means.
