When a person sits for long time, these muscles tend to shorten as the leg during such a posture is most of the time bend. This is why one will feel some pain when making the first step after long sitting hours. Furthermore, it pulls you back muscles causing extra strain that results in low back pain. Diabetes and cardiovascular complications A person burns more calories when standing or walking as compared to during sitting. Now that you are spending over 8 hours at your office, then some 2 hours of driving, 2 hours watching TV with the family, this amounts to about 12 sitting hours plus the sleeping 8 hours. You are only left with 4 hours a day that may not be enough to expend dangerous calories from your body. It is not arguable that excess calories in your body will bring about diabetes and numerous cardiovascular diseases. It is thus advisable to have frequent breaks and assume different working position to prevent such health conditions.
