Activist priest of the Catholic Adoration Ministries
in Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has disclosed that
he would only support the ongoing pro-Biafra
agitations in the South-East and parts of the South-
South if those behind it come out to lead the
struggle.
Mbaka, who lambasted those still fueling the
protests, warned that it was capable of scaring
away investors from the region and can also
snowball into a huge crisis of the scale
associated with Boko Haram if not curtailed
now.
The cleric made these assertions yesterday
during the launch of Aqua Rapha Investments
Limited’s new products, a company owned by
him. He had earlier been taken to the cleaners
by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, when
he described the pro-Biafra protests as ‘evil’.
Reacting to the criticisms, Mbaka explained: “If
this nation collapses, it is on us all. If things go
well, it is for our own good. I want you to know
that if there is any of you here that is oppressed,
we are being oppressed too. What I am begging
is that things should be done in the right way.
Because, if we continue like this, all the visions
the governors of Igboland have, vision for
employment and economic diversification, will be
frustrated.
“No investor can come into a city filled with
crises. So, wherever you are, saying, ‘let them
(the protesters) move on’, the only way I can sup
port it is when you join them. So, please, I am
begging all of us, let us join hands and develop
our place, Igboland.”
